RAIPUR: On Monday, a home theatre music system received as a wedding gift burst as soon as it was plugged in, killing the groom and his brother. The explosion also gravely injured four other people.
According to the police investigation, the home theatre was rigged with explosives and was a gift from the bride's ex-boyfriend. The tragedy took place at the Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh.
As a result of the massive explosion, the walls and roof of the room also collapsed. As per the police, a huge explosion occurred when the groom, identified as 22-year-old Hemendra Merawi, turned on the home theatre system after attaching its wire to an electric band. Mr. Merawi was instantly killed as a result of the explosion.
On the other side, his sibling passed away while receiving treatment. A police investigation revealed that the home theatre system had been rigged with explosives, which is how the blast occurred. The music system was a gift from the bride's ex-lover, the police later learned after looking into the list of presents given at the wedding.
Authorities apprehended the suspect after identifying him as Sarju. According to Kabirdham Assistant Superintendent of Police Manisha Thakur, the suspect acknowledged during questioning that he had given the explosive-filled home theatre system to his ex-girlfriend out of resentment over her marriage.
Police claim that Hemendra Merawi married on April 1. A one-and-a-half-year-old boy and four other people, including his brother Rajkumar, 30, who suffered injuries, were carried to the district hospital in Kawradha. However, Mr. Rajkumar passed away while receiving treatment. The hospital is treating the other patients currently.
The incident somehow related to the Shraddha murder case of Delhi where she got chopped into pieces by her own lover.
