Expect 'world-class 5G solution' from Jio in 2021, says Mukesh Ambani

Guwahati: Reliance Industries Ltd chairman Mukesh Ambani today announced that Jio has developed a complete 5G solution from scratch that may roll out next year. This, Ambani said, will enable the company to launch a world-class 5G service in India using 100% homegrown technologies and solutions.

Addressing the 43rd Annual General Meeting(AGM), Ambani dedicated the Jio 5G Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Aatmnirbhar Bharat initiative. "Jio is ready with a world-class 5G solution. Field deployment can happen next year. This 5G product will be available for trials as soon as the spectrum is available. Jio Platforms will be positioned for 5G solution to other telecom operators," stated Ambani during the 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM).  

It is to be noted that in a video, Jio also showcased some ways in which Jio 5G is planned to be implemented in India. These includes autonomous vehicles, 5G-connected drones that will be convenient for the farmers to enhance their crops, mixed reality that can help in creating more jobs, remote healthcare services, and of course blazing fast internet mobile speeds.

Additionally, he informed that Google will invest 33,737 crores for a 7.7 percent stake in Jio Platforms, and he welcomed Google as a "strategic partner". Jio had also recently roped in Qualcomm Ventures to invest Rs 730 crore for a 0.15 percent stake of the company.
