Mumbai: As the first Facebook Fuel for India Summit 2020 kicked off on Tuesday, Indian business magnate and chairman of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani engaged in a very informative discussion with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, both of whom discussed enormous opportunities in the digital platform for India.

Both the tech-giant leaders highlighted their company's roles in aiding India's Digital mission. The two business leaders spoke about the impact of digital connectivity to empower the masses, how small businesses get the required push with the correct technology and tools in place.

Ambani had said that Facebook has become the face of a digitally connected India and called Zuckerberg the real architect of digital connectivity for the world.

The Reliance Jio and Facebook had struck a deal after a foreign direct investment by the social media giant in Jio Platforms. It is targeting to leverage the scale and platform advantages of WhatsApp, WhatsApp for Businesses, Whatsapp Pay and JioMart to get even more offline shopkeepers and small businesses online.

Zuckerberg also said that millions of small businesses will play a key role in the global recovery of the post-Covid era. Jio could maintain 99.99% of availability of network across the country through the pandemic, helping everyone to work from home through these months, said Ambani.

Technology adoption will help India create a more healthy environment of wealth growth at the bottom of the pyramid.

While Ambani had exuded tremendous confidence that India will grow to become one of the top three economies in the world within the next two decades.

"Together, we are now a value creation platform for users and businesses," said Ambani to Zuckerberg about their partnership.

The event is being held over two days, December 15 and December 16, and is a virtual event. Facebook wants to use this platform to showcase their stories of change in India through Facebook family's products and programmes currently available in India.
