Fast Track Court Judgment Awards Death Penalty to Man Convicted for Raping 10-Year-Old Minor in Bihar

The victims family went in search for the missing girl and found her body hidden inside a wooden box.

BIHAR: In what can be called a typical case of 'justice fast-tracked, a Bihar court in Rohtas district gave the ultimate death sentence to a man held guilty of the heinous crime of rape and killing of a 10-year-old girl.

The fast track judgment was passed by Additional District and Sessions Judge, Rohtas, Neeraj Bihari Lal, who slammed the hammer on the accused and also slapped a fine of ₹ 50,000 on the convict, who has been identified as Baliram Singh.

It may be mentioned that the crime was committed by Baliram Singh took place on November 14 last year at a village in the Dalmianagar police station area.

According to reports, the convict Baliram Singh managed to lure the child with the promise of showing her a deity and abducted her to a secluded spot and committed the horrendous crime. First he raped the minor and then killed her, hiding the body inside a wooden box.

The report further informed that, the victims family went in search for the missing girl and found her body hidden inside a wooden box. The accused was identified by locals and later police arrested him and he confessed to the crime.

The court further directed the district administration to compensate the family to the tune of ₹ 8 lakh under the Compensation Scheme for Women Victims/Survivors of Sexual Assault/Other Crimes.

The Bihar court held that the offense fell in the "rarest of rare" category and awarded the death penalty to the convict.
