Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha alleged that the BJP has copied his Bhojpuri foot-tapping rap song - 'Bambai Main Ka Ba' for their campaign for upcoming elections. The song is sung by Manoj Bajpayee, who has also starred in the video. The song was released in September, and it is about the struggles of migrant workers.
The official Twitter handle of BJP Bihar shared a song - 'Bihar Mein Ee Ba' for their campaign. The song sounds very similar to Anubhav Sinha's 'Bambai Main Ka Ba.' However, the lyrics are different, as the campaign song speaks about the progress in the state by the NDA government.
Sinha took the matter to Twitter, and said, "The song is a blatant and unabashed copy of a song 'Bambai Mein Ka Ba', that I released six weeks back. A song that I own 100% copyright of"."
As the case moves towards becoming a bigger controversy, Sinha said that the ruling party has set a 'terrible' example by not respecting one's Intellectual Property Rights. The song has a connection to Assam as well. The music of the song was done by national-award winning musician from Assam, Anurag Saikia.
A BJP leader responded to the claims made by Anubhav Sinha, "The song of Anubhav Sinha was in fact copied by the opposition in Bihar with a female voice singing 'Bihar Mein Ka Ba', which was used by the media also and we condemn it. We responded to the opposition in their own words."
