Ahmedabad: Former Congress leader Hardik Patel, who recently left the Grand Old Party will join the BJP on June 2 in the presence of Gujarat party president C R Paatil.

Rumors had it that the Gujarat Patidar leader could join the BJP after tendering his resignation from the Congress Party. The former working president of the Gujarat Congress changed his tune after deserting the party and began praising the BJP's decision making capacity and style of functioning, while lashing out at the top brass of the Grand Old Party.

Before tendering his resignation from the Congress earlier this month, Hardik Patel wrote a scathing letter to party president Sonia Gandhi, where he complained that the party was only playing the role of a roadblock over certain important issues in the country and was merely reduced to opposing everything.

While speaking to the media, Patel slammed the frivolous work culture of the Congress and took a dig by stating that Gujarat Congress leaders were least bothered to address real issues facing the state and were more focused on ensuring that the leaders who come from Delhi to Gujarat get "chicken sandwich" on time.

He also alleged that the party had not assigned him with any work despite the fact that he was appointed as the Working president of Gujarat Congress.

'I had joined the Congress hoping that the party would provide me with a platform where I would have been able to serve the people to the best of my ability,' Hardik Patel said.

Much to his despair, he was reduced to a mere spectator who was not given any responsibilities and was pushed to the sidelines, he alleged.
