Govt Will Take Strict Action Against YouTube Channels Plotting Conspiracy Against India Says Anurag Thakur

Anurag Thakur, the Information and Broadcasting Minister of India gave a warning that strict and necessary actions will be taken against those who plan conspiracy against the country.

Earlier in the month of December last year, the I&B ministry has blocked a total of 20 YouTube channels and two websites in association with intelligence agencies for allegedly circulating anti-India propaganda and for spreading fake and inappropriate information against the country.

The government later informed that all these websites 20 YouTube channels are part of a well-coordinated disinformation operation based in Pakistan.

At the time of addressing the media persons, the minister informed that a restraining order has been issued by him against all those accounts blocked. He says that he is happy many of the significant countries worldwide are aware about such fake news and conspiracies against India by some of the YouTube channels. He added even YouTube has initiated a step to take action against them.

After such action this time Anurag Thakur stated that strict action against such people and sites or channels will be continued even in the future to stop them from plotting against India and prevent communal fights.

These types of YouTube channels are made with the sole purpose of harming the nation by spreading wrong news and creating a division among people.

In a statement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting stated that the 20 blocked YouTube Channels were used with the purpose of spreading disturbing content targeting sensitive issues such as minority people in the country, Kashmir, Ram Mandir, The Indian Army, the late CDS General Bipit Rawat among others.

One of those 20 YouTube Channels that has been directed to be removed was running with the channel name 'The Naya Pakistan Group' (NGP) based in Pakistan. The channel has 3.5 million subscribers and the number of times the videos are viewed is 550 million.

I&B Ministry further claimed that a number of YouTube channels under NPG were controlled by anchors belonging to Pakistani news broadcasting channels.

Other YouTube channels that have been blocked by Information and Broadcasting Ministry were running with the names as Khalsa TV, 48 News, Cover Story, The Punch Line, Fictional Historical Facts, International Web News, News 24, Naya Pakistan Global, The Naked Truth and Punjab Viral.

The two websites that were entirely blocked by the government of India are named as The Kashmir Watch and The Kashmir Global.
