Hanuman was a Jat, says BJP minister

Guwahati: It seems the Hindu God Hanuman will not be pared by any so-called self-made hanuman bhakt politicians have taken it as their birthright to decide where did Hanuman hail from and what community it belonged to. Minister for Religious Affairs Chaudhary Laxmi Narayan, have now a new identity for the Hindu mythological God and has termed him as a Jat.

Previously, it was the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who said that Hanuman was a “dalit tribal”. The UP CM said the aforementioned while addressing a poll rally in Rajasthan’s Alwar. Yogi had said, “Hanuman was a forest dweller, deprived and a Dalit. Bajrang Bali worked to connect all Indian communities together, from north to south and east to west.”

Now, Laxmi Narayan is up with another claim that Hanuman was actually a Jat. He said, “Hanuman was a Jat. I think Hanuman ji was a Jat. It is in the nature of a Jat to help anyone who is in trouble, irrespective of whether the concerned person is known to him or her. It is similar to the way in which Hanuman joined Lord Ram to rescue Sita after she was abducted by Raavan.”

This very trend of giving new identities and linking him to different castes and communities has been much viral these days. Other than these two claims about the Hindu Lord, BJP MLC and former Samajwadi Party leader Bukkal Nawab too had made a claim. According to him, the deity was a Muslim. He added, “Jahan tak baat hoti hai Hanuman ji ko batne ki, hum batadein ki Hanuman ji pure vishwa ke they, har dharma ke they, har mazhab ke the…(Hanuman belongs to the whole world, every religion…).”

Nawab even added, “Jahan tak humara manna hai, Hanuman ji jo they Musalman they, isiliye humare yahan jo naam rakha jata hai Musalmanon ke andar…Rehman hai, Ramzan hai, Imran hai, Furkhan hai, Sultan hai, Suleman hai….woh karib karib Hanuman ji par hi rakhe jate hain, unhi se milta julta (I believe that Hanuman ji was Muslim, that is why among Muslims, names given sound similar to Hanuman, like Ramzan, Imran, Purkhan, Sultan etc).”

Although these political leaders also claim that these are their personal opinions on the Hindu deity but are funny and sad at the same time. It is high time that politicians should stop their dirty political games centering the mythological characters and play with the emotions of the common masses.
