Noida: Police in Noida apprehended six members of a Haryana-based gang who reportedly trafficked minor girls for marriage with much older males.
The gang's involvement was discovered while a Rabupura police squad was investigating the case of a missing 12-year-old girl, which was reported last year on December 26 according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women and Child Safety) Vrinda Shukla.
Her family had filed an FIR at Rabupura police station after the kid went missing on December 26. According to the girl's mother, the 12-year-old went missing while playing outside their home.
The police inquiry began, and the missing girl was found in Haryana. She had previously been married to Jasveer, a 52-year-old guy who had purchased her for Rs 70,000.
Following the discovery of the gang's involvement, authorities conducted an operation to apprehend the members. The gang's strategy was to entice young females to join them, following which they would be kidnapped and sold to buyers for marriage.
The gang's base of operations, according to authorities probing the case, is in Rohtak, Haryana, but it also abducts girls from Noida and Greater Noida.
So far, three women and three males have been arrested in connection with the case, including Jasveer. Police have identified five more individuals and are working to capture them.
An FIR has also been lodged in the case in the Rabupura police station and all the proceedings are going on.
Recently police arrested 36 persons, including five women were arrested from two hotels in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh for alleged illegal sex trading as well as breaking Covid protocols. The arrest was made on a basis of a tip-off. Among 36, one woman is a foreign national and the police also arrested 1.30lakh in cash, liquor bottles, wristwatches, and impounded eight cases, according to Vishal Pandey, Additional Deputy commissioner of police( Greater Noida)
