Guwahati: Every year, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted Civil Service exams brings its fair share of heroes who carve their name in the nation's record books by cracking the murderously difficult exams. This year, Pradeep Singh has emerged as the champion that millions of aspirants shall be looking up to when they seek for inspiration amid the slog of covering the expansive UPSC syllabus.

So, who is this individual who has soared so high? Who has earned the applause of 1.3 billion Indians in such a short span of time? One would be hard-pressed to believe that Singh, who hails from the Tewri village in Gannaur of Sonepat district, does not come from a family of bureaucrats.

Pradeep Singh, who is an IRS officer, is actually the son of a farmer from the State, which is abundantly rich in agricultural resources.

After finding out that he has secured the much-coveted number 1 rank, Pradeep Singh says that he wishes to work for the betterment of society.

He said that it is a "pleasant surprise for him." Singh says that his goal is to help the "deprived sections of society."

The UPSC CSE 2019 topper's father Sukhbeer Singh is a former sarpanch of the village and has always motivated his son to scale academic heights. "Due to his motivation and my determined preparation, I was able to achieve the goal to become an IAS officer", he told media.

Twenty-nine-year-old Singh, a 2019-batch Indian Revenue Service (customs and central excise) officer, is undergoing probation at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics (NACIN) in Faridabad.

After getting selected in the IRS in 2014, he had taken the exam again in 2015, but could not clear the exam.

Holding a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science) degree from DeenBandhu Chhotu Ram University for Science and Technology, Murthal, Sonepat district, Pradeep was selected as an Inspector in the Income Tax Department through SSC in 2015 and has served there for four years.

Pradeep aced the exam in 2018, and secured the 260th rank and joined as an IRS officer. He is currently under training at the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics in Faridabad.

After topping the UPSC exam, Pradeep says that he wishes in the education sector and provide the benefits of the Government to the deprived people.

The UPSC topper says that "one only needs to be focused and have strong determination" to clear the seemingly insurmountable odds of the Civils.
