NEW DELHI: Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, had a positive Covid 19 test on Monday. On December 11, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was sworn in as the fifteenth chief minister of Himachal Pradesh. This comes as India recorded 135 new coronavirus infections, while the number of active cases slightly increased to 3,559 from 3,552, according to figures provided on Monday by the Union Health Ministry.
Prior to his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the nation's capital today, Sukhu underwent the Covid-19 infection test on Sunday.
Sukhu was appointed chief minister of Himachal Pradesh after the Congress took over the state from the BJP by winning 40 seats in the 68-member Assembly. Sukhu is a four-time MLA and also serves as the chairman of the Congress' election committee.
The cumulative number of Covid-19 infections in India has increased to 4.46 crore (4,46,76,087), according to data updated on Monday by the Union Health Ministry. The number of active cases increased slightly from 3,552 to 3,559. In the past 24 hours, there has been an increase of seven patients in the active Covid-19 caseload. 0.01% of all infections are represented by the active caseload.
According to figures updated at 8 am, there have been 5,30,674 fatalities throughout India, with two deaths being reconciled by Kerala.
According to the ministry, the national Covid-19 recovery rate improved to 98.80%.
4,41,41,854 persons have recovered from the illness, while the case fatality rate has been reported at 1.19 percent.
On the nation as a whole, the Covid vaccine has been given out in doses totaling 220 crores, according to the ministry's website.
20 lakhs were added to India's Covid-19 total on August 7, 2020; 30 lakhs on August 23, 40 lakhs on September 5, and 50 lakhs on September 16. On September 28, it surpassed 60 lakh, on October 11, it surpassed 70 lakh, on October 29, it surpassed 80 lakh, on November 20, and on December 19 it surpassed one crore.
