BENGALURU: As the day of the casting of the votes comes closer in the state of Karnataka, the verbal battles and acquisitions between the leaders of different parties are gradually reaching their peaks and one of the latest ones is the battle of words between the chief minister of Assam and the Karnataka Congress Chief.

On the Karnataka election campaign, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Karnataka Congress head DK Shivakumar is descended from Tipu Sultan. In response, Shivakumar slammed Sarma, saying that it is Congress' blood that runs through Himanta Biswa Sarma's blood, Gandhi's blood, though he had altered it now.

Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar said, “Himanta Biswa Sarma's DNA is Congress DNA. He should know that his blood is Congress' blood, Gandhi's blood. Now he has changed his blood."

Reacting to this statement Assam CM Said ,” The blood coursing through my veins originates from my parents, my state, and my country, and I am exceedingly proud of this fact. I request dear DK Shivakumar Ji to similarly take pride in his own blood, which flows from his parents, the sacred land of Karnataka, and Bharat Mata”

Himanta Biswa Sarma had stated that if the Congress party wins the election, they will turn the state into a PFI hub, which is now banned in India. He also stated that the Mughals had previously attacked Assam several times, but were forced to retreat due to the bravery of the northeasterners.

Sarma further claimed that Rahul Gandhi is incapable of ruling the country since he is frequently absent from the country, making it impossible for him to know what is going on.

Taking Rahul Gandhi as the main target, the Assam chief minister has been campaigning heavily in Karnataka. On Sunday, he drew Sonia Gandhi's name into the fray, saying, "Sonia Gandhi has been fighting alone for the last 20 years to make Rahul Gandhi stand, and now this person (Rahul Gandhi) comes and gives a guarantee to the people of Karnataka."

It is noted that Congress, which lost power in the state in 2019, is aiming to reclaim it, while the BJP wants to keep its grip on the state.
