Lucknow: An MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Uttar Pradesh Domariyaganj has made a controversial statement as he asserted that Hindus who do not vote for him in the Assembly elections have Muslims blood in their Veins.

The MLA named Raghvendra Pratap Singh, said this while addressing a people in Domariyaganj, reportedly, on February 19.

''If any Hindus votes for others, in this village, then he has blood of Miya in his veins. He's a traitor," he was heard saying in a video circulating on social media.

He further warned that he would destroy those who insulted members of his community. Notably, Singh is also in charge of Hindu Yuva Vahin.

''Even after so much trouble and atrocities, if a Hindu goes over to the other side, he shouldn't be allowed to show his face in public,'' he added.

"I didn't say much. I thought I'll be a minister for five years and then see. But even after being warned once if you do not understand, then I will show you who Raghavendra Singh is," he said.

The people that had gathered there started shouting slongans of ''Jai Shri Ram'' to support the Domariyaganj MLA, who is contesting polls from his constituency on March 3.

Interestingly, in the 2017 elections, Singh had the lowest margin of victory with just only 171 voters in Domariyaganj.

However, after facing criticism from the passes for his words, the MLA claimed that he had no intention to warn anyone.

Meanwhile, taking into cognizance of the videos where he was seen as saying, the Siddharthnagar Police in Uttar Pradesh in a tweet informed that they have asked the inspector-in-charge of domariyaganj to register a case.

In this regard, an FIR under Indian Penal Code sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 505(2) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) has been registered at Dumariyaganj police station against Singh.
