MUMBAI: Following a series of hoax bomb threat in Mumbai, security has been beefed up at three of the major railway stations in Mumbai along with the residence of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
According to sources, Mumbai police received an anonymous call about the bombs being placed at these locations. Following the call, a large contingent of Mumbai Police personnel were placed into action while they sanitized these marked locations and units of the bomb squad had also been activated.
Talking to the media, a senior official of Mumbai police said that, "The Mumbai police's main control room received the call on Friday night, in which the caller said that bombs have been placed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Byculla, Dadar railway stations and at actor Amitabh Bachchan's bungalow in Juhu."
"However, nothing suspicious has been found during the search so far," he further added.
The police also informed that in the search and probe that followed, the call was found to be a hoax . Police is tracing the caller and his location.
"After getting the call, the Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, dog squads and local police personnel rushed to these locations and carried out a search operation," police said.
"Our bomb disposal teams and the search and rescue teams confirmed that nothing suspicious has been found so far at these marked places, but heavy police deployment has been put in place at there," said Mumbai Police.
Further investigation is on while security has been beefed up so that no untoward incidents occur at these locations.
