Nashik: In a startling incident, several human remains were found at a closed shop which is located in the basement of a building in the Mumbai Naka area of Nashik city in Maharashtra.

There were reports of rotten smell emitting from the shop since the last few days and the police have said that the recovery was made after reports came to the fore.

The police had been alerted by the residents on the night of March 27 after the smell was cognisized.

The police searched a shop which was filled with scrap based on the report by locals and they discovered two plastic containers after scanning through each and every corner of the shop.

The police were astonished to find human ears, brain, eyes and some face parts inside the container.

An investigation was immediately launched to look into the matter and the forensic team were immediately given custody of the body parts.

However, the police have also suspected that the body parts may well have been preserved for medical purposes as the shop owner's two sons happen to be doctors.

"So it is possible these parts were preserved for medical purposes. However, a probe is underway covering all angles," Mumbai Naka police station official added.

The police have not registered any case so far.

Earlier, a 30-year-old man allegedly beheaded a minor girl of 8 years old and roamed across the village with the severed head.

The dreadful murder incident took place on Friday 25 March in the Sambalpur district of Odisha as informed by the police.

The accused identified as the father of two daughters is a resident of a village in Jamakira block of Odisha's Sambalpur district.
