NEW DELHI: The Congress on Friday advised the central government to take firm actions against the killing of innocent Kashmiri Pandits and the migrant workers and urged the BJP led Centre to relocate them to safe places within 24 hours.
Interacting with reporters in Raipur, senior leader and Chattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel raised a question to the BJP leaders about their silence over this issue.
Bhupesh Baghel said that the government raised quite a loud roaring about removing the article 370, breaking the Jammu- Kashmir valley into 3 parts and had imposed Governor's rule but then the Kashmir Hindus are being killed again now. He enquired who would take this responsibility for the Kashmiri Hindus being killed.
He said BJP- RSS had time to watch the 'Kashmir Files' but are silent now on the emerging conflict happening.
He made a point by saying that they had time to watch the film Kashmir Files but are now being silent when the people are actually suffering at the place. Most importantly their governing policy has now failed.
Even the Rajya Sabha member Vivek Tankha and who is also a Kashmiri Pandit asked the central government to clarify to the nation the steps, if any, that were being taken to stop the killing. He also requested the government to club other political parties along so that steps could be afforded in restoring peace and bringing a sense of hope and belief among the people that are suffering.
He quoted, "Now the people are being attacked inside government premises and our premises also did not remain safe. Please shift them to a secured place ensuring security around them".
He said there are about 10,000 non-Kashmiris who work in that valley and they need to be protected by providing assurance if the central BJP government does not want them to leave.
According to him to understand Kashmir the government would need a lot of statesmanship which he said was lacking. If Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants peace and amity to prevail then he will have to take into account the stakeholders. Although Rajya Sabha member Tankha did not clarify who the stakeholders were that he mentioned but made a very remarkable point saying that the Kashmir issue is more about just article 370 which he had already mentioned in the parliament the mere law was also removed then.
Along with the securities, Congress as well as all other opposing political party leaders had advised the central government to provide compensation for the ones who lost their lives in the last killings that had taken place.
On the other hand, the Shiv Sena deputy leader Priyanka Chaturvedi also has written to home minister Amit Shah asking him to provide compensation to the victims and to carry out an investigation for seeking proper justice for them due to the killings that have been happening in the recent past.
She mentions that in the wake of the ongoing situation adequate security must be immediately given to the Hindu community of the Kashmir valley. Considering the intensity of the killings taking place, she requests an investigation must be ordered by a competent authority to look into the recent killings.
