India Witnesses Massive Jump In daily COVID-19 Count: Here's What We Know So Far

In the last 24 hours, 1,985 patients have been cured. The daily infection rate in the country is 0.83 percent, while the weekly infection rate is 0.32 percent.

New Delhi: With 2,183 COVID cases, India on Monday recorded a massive jump in its daily COVID counts, raising fear of another spike in infections.

As per reports, in the last 24 hours, the country has witnessed a jump of 89.8 percent from yesterday's case count of 1,150 cases.

In the last 24 hours, 2183 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported, after which the number of people who have been infected so far in the country has increased to 43044 280. At present, the number of patients under treatment has increased to 11,542. The number of active patients in the country is only 0.03 percent of the total cases, while the national rate of those who are infection-free is 98.76 percent.

According to Health Ministry, in the last 24 hours, 1,985 patients have been cured. The daily infection rate in the country is 0.83 percent, while the weekly infection rate is 0.32 percent.

''214 patients have died due to corona in the last 24 hours, out of which 213 are infected from Kerala. A day earlier, 1150 cases of the corona were found and only four deaths occurred. So far, the number of patients who died of the corona has increased to 5,21,965,'' the Health Ministry said.

Among the cities witnessing a surge in cases is the national capital Delhi, which reported 517 Covid cases. The total number of Covid-infected patients in Delhi, according to yesterday's bulletin, is 1,518 - the highest since March 3 this year.

Several students in Delhi and adjoining cities of Ghaziabad and Noida have tested positive over the past couple of weeks, sparking panic leading to the closure of schools.

Meanwhile, as per the Ministry of Health, the number of patients recovering from corona has increased to 4,25,10,773, while the death rate due to infection is 1.21 percent. So far, more than 186.54 crore doses of vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered in the country. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 2,61,440 sample tests were done for coronavirus in the country on Sunday, till yesterday a total of 83,21,04,846 sample tests were done.

The Health Ministry has said that continuous efforts are being made to increase the scope of vaccination against Corona and to speed up the pace of vaccination for the people. The new phase was started on 21 June 2021 to make the COVID-19 vaccine available to all. The pace of the vaccination campaign has been increased through the availability of more and more vaccines.

The Central Government has so far provided about 192.27 crores (1,92,27,23,625) doses of vaccine to the states through free and direct state government procurement channels. At present, more than 20.53 crore (20,53,77,891) additional and unused doses of COVID-19 vaccine are available with the states, which are to be administered.
