BHOPAL: In a shocking incident, the father of a seven-year-old boy in Indore of Madhya Pradesh murdered his son in his sleep, due to pressure exerted by his third wife to get rid of the boy.
The incident reportedly occurred on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, in Tejaji Nagar area of Indore. A middle-aged man identified as Shishupal Munde allegedly asked his son Pratheek, a Class III student, to sleep in his room with an air cooler.
Usually, the boy sleeps with his grandparents and he was excited to sleep in the comfort of the cooler. He reportedly told his grandparents he was going to sleep in his father's room and that was the last time they saw him alive.
According to the police, Shishupal turned up the TV volume and strangled his son when he fell asleep. He then allegedly tried to video call his wife, but she didn't take the call.
Undeterred, after killing his young son, Shishupal sent a video of the scene to prove that he had killed Prateek, to his third wife Payal in MP’s Rajgarh district. Payal had repeatedly asked him to get rid of the boy.
Taking action in the matter, the Tejaji Nagar police arrested the accused man Shishupal and his third wife Payal, (23) for the heinous crime. Payal is said to have given birth to a child just three months back.
Additional DCP (ADCP) JS Bhadauria said that the prime accused Shishupal, who worked as a driver of a respected family in Indore, had married for the first time in 2015. His son Prateek was a product of that marriage.
After his first wife died in 2019, he married another woman but the marriage did not last more than 15 days.
Shishupal was married for the third time two years back, this time with Payal, a resident of Rajgarh district. However, Payal didn’t want to live with stepson Prateek ever since getting married to Shishupal.
She returned to her parent’s place around 7-8 months back and started piling pressure on Shishupal regularly to eliminate Prateek if he wanted her to live with him.
Around three months back, she also gave birth to a child and since then started stepping up the pressure on Shishupal to get rid of seven-year-old Prateek, else she refused to return to Indore with their three-month-old child.
Meanwhile, the police said the video clip of the murder was found on Shashipal Munde's mobile phone.
