INS Prabal launches anti-ship missile, hits target with deadly accuracy

The Indian Navy's Missile Corvette INS Prabal launched an anti-ship missile (AShM) during a practice drill.

The Indian Navy's Missile Corvette INS Prabal launched an anti-ship missile (AShM) during a practice drill. It was launched somewhere from the Arabian Sea on Friday. The AShM homed on its target, and hit the target with accuracy at its maximum range, sinking the target ship, which was a decommissioned Frigate.

The Anti-Submarine Warfare stealth corvette – INS Kavaratti commissioned into Indian Navy

INS Kavaratti, the Anti-Submarine Warfare stealth corvette was commissioned by Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane into India Navy on Thursday.

Designed by the in-house wing of Indian Navy, INS Kavaratti is the last of the four indigenously built ASW stealth corvettes under Project 28 (Kamorta Class). It is was built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Kolkata.

Kavaratti is commissioned as a combat-ready platform as the ship has completed sea trials of all the systems fitted onboard. It has modern weapons along with a sensor suite capable of detecting and prosecuting submarines. The ship also has credible self-defence capability and good endurance for long-range deployments.
