SRINAGAR: In a devastating turn of events on Thursday, another Indian Army soldier lost his life in the ongoing encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. The toll has now reached five Army personnel since the clash began the previous day.

The unfortunate incident on Wednesday claimed the lives of four Army personnel, including two captains and two jawans. Additionally, three others sustained injuries and were subsequently transferred to the Army's Command Hospital in Udhampur. The encounter, a fierce confrontation between terrorists and the joint forces of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, has so far resulted in the elimination of two terrorists.

The skirmish unfolded in the Kalakote area of Rajouri district and resumed on Thursday morning after a brief overnight hiatus. The region, characterized by dense forests, was strategically cordoned off, with reinforcements deployed to prevent any escape by the terrorists involved.

Reports indicate that a major and two jawans suffered injuries during the operation. The wounded personnel have been rushed to the Army's Command Hospital in the Bajimaal area of Dharmsal. The cordon-and-search operation, a crucial strategy employed by security forces, aims to neutralize the terrorists and restore peace in the region.

In a significant development, two terrorists were eliminated in the encounter, including a Pakistani identified as Quari. Believed to be the mastermind behind the Dhangri and Kandi twin attacks, Quari played a central role in an assault that claimed seven lives and injured 14 individuals. Intelligence sources revealed that he was dispatched to the Rajouri-Poonch region with the sinister mission of reviving terrorism.

Quari, skilled in crafting improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and adept at operating from concealed caves, was also a trained sniper. His demise marks a crucial victory for the security forces, dealing a blow to the resurgence of terrorism in the area.

As the situation unfolds, the resilience of the joint forces and the sacrifices made by the fallen soldiers underscore the challenges faced in maintaining peace in the volatile region of Jammu and Kashmir. The nation mourns the loss of these brave individuals, reflecting on the ongoing struggle against terrorism.
