NEW DELHI: An FIR was lodged against Kalicharan Maharaj in Raipur police station for allegedly making defamatory statements against Mahatma Gandhi.
Meanwhile, another case was filed against the seer on Monday 27 December in Akola, Maharashtra.
As per reports, Kalicharan will be presented in the court within the time period of 24 hours after he is bought from Bhageshwar Dham through a route of the road by Thursday evening as informed by the official.
Chief Minister of the state, Bupesh Baghel stated that strict action will be taken against those who use abusive and inappropriate language for Mahatma Gandhi, the legendary person who fought for the nation and spread the message of non-violence and peace.
Currently, the CM is in Delhi to attend a meeting called by Nirmala Sitharam, Union Finance Minister. Baghel informed through a video clip that the family members and lawyers of Kalicharan have been made aware of the case and he will be produced before the court within 24 hours.
Raipur police went with a team to the rental apartment of Kalicharan Maharaj close to the Bhageshwar Dham and arrested him in the morning around 04:00 am. The Superintendent of Police, Raipur informed that Kalicharan was found residing at the rental room located 25 kilometers distance from Khajuraho town of Madhya Pradesh.
The official statement says the three different teams of Raipur Police were directed to trace Kalicharan and were sent to various locations of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi. The team with seven police officials succeeded in finding out the religious leader and detained him from Khajuraho where he was living in rent.

On Sunday 26 December, Kalicharan spoke disrespectfully and made inflammatory statements about Mahatma Gandhi during the ending of the 2-day religious parliament, Dharma Sansad held in Raipur.

Kalicharan Maharaj is a popular Hindu religious leader known originally as Abhijeet Dhananjay Saraag. The 49 years old seer was born in the year 1973 and is a resident of Shivajinagar in the old city of Akola, Maharashtra.
The saint has gained much recognition across the country for his devotional speeches on different occasions on God and Goddesses. Kalicharan came into the limelight in the year 2021 after his video chanting 'Shiv Tandav' went viral on the internet. The Indian guru, Kalicharan has studied up to the 8th standard in a private school in Maharashtra.
