NEW DELHI: In the midst of the ongoing Karnataka CM election, prominent Congress leaders encouraged people not to trust opposition conjecture. According to sources, Siddaramaiah is the Karnataka Chief Minister.

Following the Congress's resounding victory in the Karnataka assembly elections, frantic parleys for the CM job entered their fourth day on Wednesday. The freshly elected MLAs unanimously passed a resolution authorizing Kharge to pick the Karnataka chief minister, and the two frontrunners, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, have been lobbying hard since then.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai criticize the Congress for the continued uncertainty, saying, "Congress has yet to finalize its CM candidate despite having a majority." This reflects the party's internal situation. People's ambitions are more important than politics. The Congress should appoint a prime minister as quickly as feasible."

According to sources, Siddaramaiah is expected to take the oath of Karnataka's Chief Minister tomorrow. Siddaramaiah fans in Bengaluru have already begun celebrating by pouring milk on his poster.

However, DK Shivakumar refused to agree on any bet on Wednesday. He disagreed with separating the CM's tenure. The Karnataka Congress President has also turned down the position of Deputy Chief Minister.

The Supreme Court deferred the hearing on the CBI appeal against the Karnataka High Court ruling suspending a corruption case against D K Shivakumar until July 14.

The court stated that the case against D K Shivakumar should be kept quiet for two to three days.

In 2017, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) similarly waited a week after election results were published before naming Yogi Adityanath as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

The Congress earned a comfortable majority in Karnataka's assembly election last week, finishing with 135 seats in the 224-member legislature. Its joy was tempered, though, by concern about the Siddaramaiah-versus-Shivakumar race for the top post.

Mr. Siddaramaiah, 75, is a former Chief Minister, and Mr. Shivakumar, 61, leads the party in Karnataka.
