A lady from Kerala's Thrissur district went missing a day after her wedding and was discovered in Madurai with her partner. Soon after her husband found out about the scenario he suffered a heart attack and is supposedly go through angioplasty procedure.
The women were discovered days later at a Madurai lodge, but only after a frenzied search by the police and family, all while the groom fought for his life in a hospital. His health is now said to be stable and he is no longer in danger. After a six-day inquiry, the police apprehended the 23-year-old lady, a resident of Pazhuvil near Cherpu in Thrissur, along with her lover, on Monday.
The newlywed woman, who was returned to her family, claimed that she planned to elope with her lover even before they married, but she waited until the wedding to obtain her parents' gold jewellery.
Her husband, a Thrissur native from Chavakkad, had filed a missing person report with the police when she vanished on October 25, only one day after their wedding. The couple had travelled to Cherpu to see a commercial bank. During the bank visit, the woman snatched her husband's phone and assured him that she would return after visiting her friend. She got on her two-wheeler and sped away in front of him, never to be seen again.
Her husband waited till 5pm but as she failed to come her husband filed the missing complaint. An inquiry found that the girl and her girlfriend had purchased a train ticket from Thrissur to Chennai on the same day. Instead, the two took the bus to Kottayam and then the train to Chennai the next day. The girls flew from Chennai to Madurai and slept at a hotel there.
Police after interrogation said that the girls plan to live in Madurai by taking up jobs in textile shops in the region.
