Lockdown 5.0: Night curfew to be clamped from 9 pm to 5 am

Earlier, the night curfew was being clamped from 7 am to 7 pm. Now, timings have been revised by the MHA

Guwahati: In the next phase of the extended lockdown meant to curb the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Union Home Ministry has set night curfew timings from 5 am to 9 pm (previously, it was from 7 am to 7 pm).

Meanwhile, the lockdown shall continue to remain in force in the containment zone areas till June 30, 2020. According to the MHA guidelines, only essential activities are allowed within the containment zones. If a state or Union Territory so chooses, it can also identify an area surrounding the containment zone as a buffer zone where some restrictions will also be imposed.

Additionally, the states and the Union Territories are free to prohibit certain activities outside the containment zones as they deem fit.

No Restrictions on Travel:

In the new phase of lockdown, there shall be no restriction in the inter and intra state movement of persons. However, if a state of union territory chooses to restrict movement, it has to give wide publicity in advance.

Meanwhile, persons above 65 years of age, persons with co-morbidities, and pregnant women have been advised to stay at home.

Legal action as per provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC, and other legal actions as applicable shall be taken against offenders.
