Madhya Pradesh CM announces 'Gau Cabinet' in the state

Bhopal: The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the MP government will set up a cabinet for cows, called the 'Gau (Cow) Cabinet' to protect the cows and its progeny. CM Chouhan informed about the same via Twitter on Wednesday.

"It has been decided to set up a 'Gau Cabinet' for the protection and promotion of cattle in the state. The Cow Cabinet will include the departments of Animal Husbandry, Forest, Panchayat and Rural Development, Revenue, Home and Farmers Welfare. The first meeting for Gau Cabinet will be held on November 22 at noon on Gopashtami at the Cow Sanctuary in Agar Malwa," tweeted CM Chouhan in Hindi.

The one-of-its-kind 'Gau Cabinet' will comprise of the following departments: Panchayat and Rural Development, Forests, Animal Husbandry, Revenue, Home and Farmers' Welfare.

The first meeting of the 'Gau Cabinet' will be held on the occasion of Gopashtami on November 22. The meeting will start at noon at the Cow Sanctuary in Agar-Malwa district.

The first cow sanctuary is also located in Madhya Pradesh. It was developed by the Madhya Pradesh Gau Samvardhan Board. The sanctuary is spread across 472 hectares of land.

The MP Government has also been in the news for its decision to introduce a bill on 'Love Jihad.' The Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Narottam Mishra has recently said that the state government is preparing to introduce a bill against 'love jihad.' The term 'Love Jihad' alleges that a Muslim man marries a non-muslim girl just to convert her into Islamism. Mishra said that the said bill will include five years of imprisonment for the 'violators.'
