KANPUR: A telephone caller, who claimed to be a friend of slain gangster Vikas Dubey, has been found to be threatening an Army man. The Army man and his wife are reportedly not on good terms and are staying separately.

The caller, who claimed that he had murdered an official inside the court, asked the Army man to take his wife along with him or be ready to face dire consequences.

The police said the Army man, who is posted in Nagaland, is a resident of Dabauli area of Kanpur.

SSP Preetinder Singh said that the Army man had come to Kanpur and in his complaint, he said that he got the call from a man who introduced himself as a friend of Vikas Dubey, and asked him to take his wife along with him. The caller further warned that if he did not pay heed to his demand, he would eliminate him. The case has been handed over to the SWAT for investigation.

"This is the second time that someone has threatened a person in the name of Vikas Dubey. Earlier, a computer institute owner was threatened of dire consequences. Following instructions from senior officers, we have launched an investigation and will nab the culprit soon and take strict action against him," said SWAT in-charge Dinesh Yadav.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Govind Nagar police station and further investigation is on, he added. (IANS)
