Guwahati: A militant has been killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday, July 4, officials said.

According to army officials, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Arrah area of Kulgam in south Kashmir after receiving specific information about the presence of militants lurking in the area.

A gunfight broke out when the security forces were conducting the searches in the area and militants fired upon them. The forces retaliated, and in the encounter that ensued, a militant was gunned down.

Notably, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Tuesday informed that 48 terrorists have been killed in anti-terror operations in the month of June alone.
