NEW DELHI: The leased flight from Moscow to Goa that had been redirected to Jamnagar on Monday evening due to an alleged bomb threat departed for Goa on Tuesday afternoon. The reported bomb threat on the chartered flight between Moscow and Goa, according to the Jamnagar Collector, was a hoax call.
After Goa ATC responded to an alleged bomb threat on Monday, the flight was diverted to Jamnagar in Gujarat. National Security Guard (NSG), police, and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) personnel performed a thorough search operation, according to Jamnagar Collector Saurabh Pardhi, but nothing alarming was discovered.
"NSG, police, and BDS teams conducted a thorough search operation. Passengers' hand luggage and checked baggage were also checked. After completing the necessary formalities, the flight will take off for its intended destination of Goa.
Jamnagar SP Premsukh Delu said, "The district police and bomb disposal squad arrived at the airport and started a rescue operation after the district control received a contact from the ATC at 9 o'clock. There were 236 passengers in total, together with 8 crew members, on the aircraft. After every passenger and crew member had left, they underwent a thorough inspection. The NSG team also responded immediately."
He added that the search effort continued until the early hours of Tuesday after the flight arrived on Monday at 9.50 p.m. "All passengers, luggage, and the aircraft were scrutinised carefully. Nothing unusual has been discovered, "he added The director of Jamnagar Airport reaffirmed that nothing unusual was discovered on the private flight by the security forces.
The airport was previously surrounded by a 9-hour security ring. They said that every passenger had been removed and taken to the lounge inside the terminal building securely. The Indian authorities informed the Russian Embassy about the claimed bomb scare on the Azur Air flight travelling from Moscow to Goa, according to a statement the embassy released.
"Authorities in India informed the Embassy of a possible bomb scare aboard an Azur Air flight travelling from Moscow to Goa. At Jamnagar Indian Air Force Base, the aircraft performed an emergency landing. Authorities are inspecting the aircraft while ensuring the safety of everyone on board "the Russian Embassy declared in a statement.
