Myntra to Change Logo After Woman Lodge Complaint Terming it 'Offensive, Insulting to Women'

A complaint was lodged by one Naaz Patel of NGO Avesta Foundation in December 2020 demanded the removal of the logo by Myntra terming it to be offensive

NEW DELHI: E-commerce giant, "Myntra" landed in a soup after a complaint was lodged with the Mumbai Cyber police alleging that the "logo" of Myntra is insulting and offensive towards women.

According to reports, one Naaz Patel of NGO Avesta Foundation in December last year, demanding the removal of the logo by Myntra and appropriate action against the firm.

Further, the complainee took to various forums and platforms on social media to highlight the issue.

DCP Rashmi Karandikar, Cyber Crime Department of Mumbai police speaking to media said that following the complaint, we sent an email to Myntra and their officials came and met us. Further, the officials said they will change the logo in a month's time.

Meanwhile, the e-commerce retailer said they would also revise their logo on their website, app as well as on all packaging material.

Notably, Myntra Designs Private Limited reported its revenues for the financial year 2019-20 as Rs 1,719 crore, a 58 per cent jump since the last financial year.

The company was granted a licence to run and operate the fashion retail platform Jabong.com, effective from September 2019 by Jade eServices Pvt. Ltd.

The Company sells a range of clothing, footwear, accessories, bags and backpacks, jewellery, and personal care products for men, women, and kids. It also develops an in-house application Style Studio, a virtual dressing room aimed at making online shopping interactive for shoppers.
