The bail applications filed by actor Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty were rejected by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday in the Bombay High Court. They were arrested in a drug case linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death.

However, the anti-drug agency told the court that the drug investigation has nothing to do with Rajput's death and it is a complete case of 'drug syndication'.

The Bombay High Court on Monday said that Rhea had bought drugs for Rajput and ''concealed'' his drug habit. Section 27A of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for providing for financing drug trafficking and harbouring offenders was applicable against her.

The NCB called Rhea and her brother as ''active members of a drug syndicate connected with high society personalities and drug suppliers''. The siblings were arrested based on the WhatsApp chats recovered from Rhea's phone.

The NCB affidavits, submitted by NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede stated that the drugs linked to Chakraborty were ''not meant for personal consumption''. The affidavits further stated, ''the WhatsApp evidence, records that were retrieved from the mobile, laptop and hard-disk also indicated payment made for drugs.''

The anti-drug agency also said that all the people arrested in the case are interlinked to each other and they were regular links in purchasing.
