Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau which busted the drugs racket in the controversial Mumbai cruise ship case has so far managed to arrest 16 persons in connection to the case.
On Tuesday, four persons named Adbul Qadir Shiek (30), Shreyas Nair (23), Manish Rajgariya (26) and Avin Sahu (30) have been remanded to the custody of NCB till October 11. This order was passed by R M Nerlikar who is the additional chief metropolitan magistrate.
The court had also remanded Aryan Khan and seven others to the NCB custody on Monday.
On Tuesday, the special public prosecutor (SPP) Advait Sethna told the court that the drug case has become "like Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes novels as there is a new twist and turn every moment".
On Tuesday, additional chief metropolitan magistrate R M Nerlikar expressed that to get to the root of the case, the NCB would need to conduct a detailed investigation.
An application was submitted by the SPP seeking the presence of limited people while conducting the in-camera remand proceedings of Adbul Qadir Shiek.
In regard to this matter, the NCB said the step was necessary as the earlier remand proceedings had been covered by the media.
However, the application was rejected by the court claiming that it was incapable of restraining the media.
The NCB asserted that 2.5 gm of Ecstacy and 54.3 gm of Mephedrone was seized from the possession of Sheikh while 2 gm of Charas was seized from the possession of Nair.
According to the NCB, "a nexus, links, role and involvement of all these persons required further corroboration".
On Sunday, the NCB had recovered 13 grams of cocaine, five grams of MD, 21 grams of charas and 22 pills of Ecstacy and an amount of Rs. 1.33 lakhs.
