New Delhi: In the midst of the Corona crisis, another bad news has come to the fore as after Omicron, scientists have detected another variant of corona named IHU variant.
According to several media reports, the variant IHU has changed its form 46 times. It is believed that it may be more vaccine-resistant and infectious than the original COVID virus.
The reports further claimed that the variant IHU has been discovered in France. In Marseille (Variant IHU in Marseille) of France, 12 cases of the new variant have been reported. These cases have been seen in those people, who had returned from the African country of Cameroon.
However, presently, it is not clear how deadly and infectious this IHU variant is going to be. Meanwhile, at present, the Omicron variant is wreaking havoc in France.
Out of the total corona cases coming, 60 per cent are from Omicron. Named IHU, the B.1.640.2 variant was discovered by the academics at institute IHU Mediterranee Infection.
However, according to reports, the variant IHU is not spreading faster as compared to the previous COVID variant.
It is also yet to be seen whether this has reached in other countries or not.
The B.1.640.2 has not been spotted in other countries or labelled a variant under investigation by the World Health Organization (WHO) which is reportedly different from the B.1.640 which was found in Congo in September.
Professor Philip Colson, head of the team that discovered the new variant, said that the test found that it is made of the E484K mutation, which makes it more vaccine-resistant.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has said that the total number of Omicron cases in the country has increased to 1,892. Maharashtra and Delhi have the highest number of 568 and 382 cases of Omicron. Out of 1,892 patients of Omicron, 766 patients have recovered.
