NEW DELHI: An iron framework used to hold the lights collapsed on two people during a fashion show in Film City, Noida, killing Vanshika Chopra, a 24-year-old model and injuring another.
According to authorities, the incident happened at Laxmi Studio on Sunday at around 1:30 p.m. when the fashion show was in progress. Vanshika Chopra, a resident of Greater Noida's Gaur City-2, has been named as the deceased, while Bobby Raj, an Agra native, has been named as the injured party. Raj was taken in need of immediate medical attention to a local hospital.
Shakti Awasthi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) said that, “Vanshika Chopra, 24, lost her life when lights put in a private studio in Film City crashed while a fashion show event was taking place there. In the incident, one person suffered injuries. Four individuals have been taken into custody and questioned.”
After the investigation, more legal action would be taken, the officer added.
Vanshika attended the event as one of the volunteer promoters. She was carried to the Kailash Hospital when an iron truss collapsed on her during a fashion presentation, where medics pronounced her dead, according to the police.
Her family members have been informed about Vanshika's passing. The postmortem of the body has been ordered. According to the authorities, the fashion show was not given permission.
Vanshika participated in the event as one of the volunteer promoters. Sadly, she had to be taken right away to Kailash Hospital after the iron truss collapsed on her during the fashion presentation. Tragically, the hospital's medical staff pronounced her dead when they brought her in.
There were about 150 people in the studio at the time of the incident. There were reportedly no CCTV cameras in the room, according to reports, as investigators painstakingly seek the truth. However, attempts are being made to collect any videos that participants in the programme may have.
