Now One Can Order Liquor via Website, App & Get Delivered at Doorsteps in Delhi

Earlier the liquor manufacturers asked the Aam Aadmi Party-led government to allow home delivery of alcoholic beverages in the wake of lockdowns.

NEW DELHI: Under the new excise policy, the Delhi government has permitted the home delivery of liquor through online portals and mobile apps.

In a notification, holders of the L-13 license will be allowed to deliver liquor to the doorstep of people.

The notification added that the licensee shall make delivery of liquor at the residences only if the order is received through the mobile app or online web portal and no delivery shall be made to any hostel, office, and institution.

"Licence in Form L-13 for home delivery of Indian liquor and Foreign Liquor by ordering through a mobile app or online web portal. The licensee shall make delivery of liquor at the residences only if the order is received through a mobile app or online web portal and no delivery shall be made to any hostel, office, and institution," the notification said.

The rules also permit the holders of the necessary licenses to serve liquor in open spaces such as terraces, the courtyards of clubs, bars, and restaurants.

The decision to allow home delivery of liquor comes a day after the national capital started the unlocking process, after a month of lockdown.

So far, several states including Punjab, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal, have initiated the process of enabling the home delivery of liquor.

Earlier, Maharashtra has also allowed by the state government where home delivery to liquor has made available after it faced a severe wave of Covid-19 infections this year. The state has imposed tough restrictions and shops are closed in cities like Mumbai to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.
