CHANDIGARH: In a significant development following the recent outbreaks of violence in Nuh, Haryana, the district's residents are breathing a sigh of relief as internet services have been reinstated after a two-week blackout. The clashes that originally erupted in Nuh subsequently spread to the adjacent Gurugram, prompting the state government to extend the ban on mobile internet services in the region until August 13th. However, a recent announcement confirmed the restoration of internet connectivity from Sunday midnight, marking a step towards normalcy.
The tensions had escalated to the point where the District Magistrate of Nuh had previously imposed a curfew and limited residents' movement for security reasons. This curfew had been a subject of concern for the affected populace, as their daily lives had been severely impacted. In a recent turn of events, the District Magistrate, Dhirendra Khadgata, who holds the authority conferred by Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, issued an order to ease the curfew temporarily. According to this directive, people in the district are now permitted to move about between 6 am and 8 pm on the 14th and 15th of August, with the curfew being re-imposed thereafter.
It's worth noting that this order comes with specific terms and conditions. While the curfew has been relaxed, there is a stern warning against violating the order. Any individual found guilty of contravening this directive will face legal consequences under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, along with other applicable rules. The Superintendent of Police, Nuh, has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the proper enforcement of these orders.
In instances where urgent medical aid is required during the curfew hours, provisions have been made for exceptions. Individuals who find themselves in such circumstances can obtain curfew passes from the concerned authorities, allowing them limited movement for medical emergencies.
Tragically, the violence that triggered this sequence of events resulted in six fatalities. Among the victims were two home guards and a cleric. The unrest initially ignited over an attempt to halt a procession organized by the Vishva Hindu Parishad in Nuh. Subsequently, the turmoil escalated, reaching as far as Gurugram and other nearby locations.
As the district of Nuh takes steps towards restoration and stability, the reinstatement of internet services and the temporary curfew relaxation hold significant implications for the affected residents. The authorities remain vigilant to prevent any further outbreaks of violence and to ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
