THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The controversies around ‘The Kerala Story’ has kept on growing over the last few days. While Tamil Nadu and West Bengal governments have banned the screening of the film, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh governments have made it tax-free. But amid the allegations and counter allegations, the Oscar-winning sound mixer of the Slumdog Millionaire fame, Resul Pookutty has decided to fight back with a counter-narrative of what is being showcased and how the normal person from the state is committed towards the upholding of brotherhood and communal harmony.

The noted sound designer shared multiple tweets with the hashtag ‘#MyKeralaStory’ to share several incidents to highlight his point. One of them was about the Hindu wedding of Anju and Sharath inside a mosque. Originally posted by Comrade From Kerala, this video received over 3.8 million views and 22k likes on Twitter. The video was shared with the caption “You seek love, you will find love …. The story of Kerala is about brotherhood. … that’s the story of my Kerala.”

He also retweeted the story of pastor Father Jijo Kurian, who helped construct over 100 houses for the victims of the 2018 floods. Resul Pookutty also asked his followers to share their own experiences and narratives of their version of the Kerala Story as he shared several more heartwarming stories from the South Indian state.

He also mentioned that the sense of the peaceful co-existence of the multitude of regions is a part of the culture of Kerala and the people of the state do not mind sharing space or resources with the people of other faith while giving an example of how the Palayam Mosque and the neighbouring Ganapathi Kovil (temple) share the same compound wall.
