New Delhi: In the wake of protest against the centre's new recruitment scheme for the army, some organisations have called for 'Bharat Bandh' on Monday demanding the rollback of the scheme.
Following the bandh, both centre and state governments have prepared themselves to deal with any untoward incidents and Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have also been put on high alert.
As per reports, nearly 500 trains have been cancelled today of which 181 Mail Express and 348 passenger trains have been cancelled due to the agitation over the Agneepath scheme.
In addition to this, 4 Mail Express and 6 Passenger trains are partially cancelled. However, no train has been diverted during this period.
On Sunday too, a total of 491 train services were affected throughout the country due to the agitation affecting the travellers.
Meanwhile, mobile internet has been suspended in 20 districts of Bihar in view of the bandh called for Monday.
The districts are Kaimur, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Buxar, Nawada, West Champaran, East Champaran, Samastipur, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Vaishali, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Madhubani, Jehanabad, Khagaria and Sheikhpura districts.
Notably, several political parties have expressed their solidarity with the youths, who are protesting against the new army recruitment norm. Meanwhile, once the largest opposition in the country, Congress, has to come out in support of protestors as the party's MPs and leaders sat on 'Satyagraha' at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.
Many veteran Congress leaders have joined this Satyagraha and as per Congress, it has taken the decision to conduct satyagraha because the Agneepath scheme has put the youth of the country on the streets.
