Padma Awards 2021: 9 From Assam Bags the Highest Prestigious Award, Check the Full List

NEW DELHI: On Monday 8 November the function for the official ceremony of the Padma Awards has been organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi.

President Ram Nath Kovind honored the Padma awardees at the function and has approved the conferment of 119 Padma Awards. The Padma Award 2021 ceremonial function will be held on Monday 8 November and Tuesday 9 November.

The Padma Awards are considered as one of the reputed and highest civilian honors of India announced each year on the eve of Republic Day. The Awards are distributed among various disciplines and fields of activities including art, social work, sports, science, public affairs, engineering, medicine, trade and industry, literature and education, civil service, and many others. 'Padma Vibhushan' is awarded for the service that is extraordinary and distinguished while 'Padma Bhushan' for distinguished service of high order and 'Padma Shri' for distinguished service in any field.

The Padma Awards 2020-21 list comprises 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan, and 102 Padma Shri Awards. This year 29 of the awardees are women, one awardee falls under the transgender category, 16 posthumous awardees, and from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI there are ten people.

Each year the Padma Awards are declared during the occasion of Republic Day i.e. on 26 January and the awardees are honored by the President of the country in a ceremonial function organized in Rashtrapati Bhavan during the month of March or April.
