Guwahati: Reputed food delivery app Zomato is in news for delivering ‘fiber food’ to one of its customers in Aurangabad. The food delivery app, however, had to apologize for its conduct and also assured that the restaurant is suspended from its list.
It all happened then when a person, named Sachin Jamdare, ordered for paneer delicacies from a certain restaurant through Zomato. The food arrived and he sat to eat the ordered foods with his children. When one of his children started complaining that the paneer is really hard and is hurting her teeth, he discovered that the thing she was chewing was not a piece of paneer for a fibre only. This worried him a lot to further go to the restaurant with his complaint but had to be disappointed as the restaurant said that they are not responsible for it and perhaps the Zomato delivery guy has done something with the food.
Sachin said, “I ordered paneer chilly, paneer masala, etc for my children. When we started eating, my daughter told me the paneer was very hard and her teeth hurt while chewing it. When I tasted it, I found fibre.”
He further added, “I was really worried about my children’s health. I went to the restaurant to speak with the owner. They did not entertain my issue, saying that maybe Zomato guy did something. I went to the police station and lodged a complaint. I wanted to raise awareness among our countrymen how these people can play with our health for something as little as Rs150.”
On being aware of the incident, Zomato released an instant statement that it is apologetic for whatever inconvenience happened to the customer and also said that the concerned restaurant has been suspended from its platform.
Further, in the apology statement, Zomato added that, “Zomato is deeply committed to food safety, quality, and hygiene. We apologise for the anguish this incident must have caused to our user. We have suspended the restaurant from our platform pending results of the external FDA investigation and in the meanwhile, have refunded the entire amount to the user.”
