Jaipur: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
The MLA named Gyan Chand Parakh said this during a debate on Finance Bill in the state Assembly which was strongly opposed by Congress.
He said that once upon a time the slogan of 'Har Har Mahadev' was given and now the slogan of 'Har Har Modi' is raised.
''It won't' be an exaggeration to say that Modi is an incarnation of Mahadev,'' PTI quoted him as saying.
He further compared Modi with Lord Shiva and said that when Mahadev opens his third eye, there is a catastrophe. But when Modi opened his third eye, terrorists were neutralized and a surgical strike takes place on Pakistani soil.
While expressing confidence in Modi's leadership, Parakh asserted that he is only the leader, who is capable of making the country safe and powerful.
However, the Parak's statement didn't land well with the Congress as Mahesh Joshi strongly objected to his remarks.
''Comparing a human being to Lord Shiva is wrong and its an insult to Mahadev,'' he said.
