PM Modi held conversations with Egypt President El-Sisi, focused on strategies to elevate bilateral ties

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held wide-ranging talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who is on a three-day visit to India as a chief guest on the 74th Republic Day, at New Delhi's Hyderabad House.

As per reports, the extensive discussion focused on ways to strengthen bilateral ties in a range of dimensions inclusive of the digital realm, agriculture, trade, and culture between the two countries.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Modi highlighted the bilateral ties between the two countries, mentioning that India and Egypt are two of the oldest civilizations with a history of trade relations between the two nations. Egypt has been invited as a special guest at the upcoming G20 meeting this year, PM Modi stated.

India's PM further stressed that both countries also pledged to cooperate on the misuse of cyberspace that assists in spreading extremism as well as radicalization. The two leaders also had conversations regarding the supply chain that was disorganized due to the Russia-Ukraine war along with the Covid-19 pandemic.

PM Modi announced that both countries have decided to upgrade the bilateral relations with Egypt to a strategic partnership with a long-term structure for greater cooperation in the facets of security, politics, science, and economics.

President of India Droupadi Murmu, PM Modi, and numerous other senior leaders greeted the Egyptian President at the Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning. Egyptian President Sisi said that it has been a great privilege to be a guest of honor and be a part of the glorious national day. He stated that the ties between both nations have been identified by balance and stability.
