Patna: Addressing the first election rally in Bihar after COVID outbreak in March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the opposition for demanding to restore Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He has accused the opposition of taking sides with the ones who conspire to weaken the country.

Article 370 of the Indian Constitution gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir of drafting their separate constitution along with the autonomy over the internal administration of the state and a state flag. However, on August 5, 2019, the government of India revoked the special status given to the state.

Addressing the rally at Sasaram ahead of the Bihar assembly elections which start next week, Modi said that the entire country was waiting for the abrogation of Article 370.

Bihar sends so many of its sons and daughters to the border to protect the country. Would not restoring Article 370 be an insult to those families, Modi asked.

All the blood and sweat of Bihar's children on the border will just go in vain if the opposition conspires to weaken the country by bringing back Article 370 after being voted to power, Modi said.
