President Kovind slips into his sneakers, jogs on Diu beach; urges nation to stay fit

In a video tweeted by President Ram Nath Kovind, he can be seen jogging in the Ghoghla beach in Diu; the President sent positive messages on staying fit and healthy.

New Delhi: A video shared today by the official Twitter handle of President Ram Nath Kovind featured the President jogging in a Diu beach as he sent a message of healthy lifestyle to his nation's people. The President who is currently on his four-day visit to the Union Territory of Diu visited the Ghoghla beach on Sunday where he can be seen jogging in the video.

 In his tweeted video, the President sent a message of hope to his nation by urging to stay fit and healthy together. Referring to the year 2020 as a "difficult" one, he wished for good health and prosperity for people in the coming year.

He wrote: "As we enter 2021, after a difficult year that has tested us all, let us rise together and make an endeavour to remain fit and healthy. May the coming year bring good health and prosperity in our lives."

According to reports President Kovind also inaugurated a light-and-sound show at Diu fort on Sunday. An official release described him as being overwhelmed at the beauty and cleanliness of the Ghoghla beach. The beach was even awarded the 'Blue Flag' certification by the Danish Foundation for Environment Education. Reportedly, President Kovind reached the Union Territory on Friday and left for New Delhi by noon today. 

As part of his four-day visit, President Kovind inaugurated as well as laid the foundation stone for different projects in the Union Territory. The inauguration of - first academic session of IIIT Vadodara-International Campus Diu, laying of the foundation stone of a school, improvement of 1.3 kilometres heritage walk-way on Diu City Wall; development of integrated municipal solid waste management system for entire urban and rural areas of Diu were some of his projects from the schedule. 

Notably, the President visited Diu with his wife Savita Kovind and even offered prayers at Gangeshwar Mahadev Temple.
