Punjab: 5 BSF Jawans Killed As Their Colleague Opens Fire

Amritsar: At least five personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) were killed after one of them opened fire at his colleagues on Sunday morning in Punjab's Amritsar.

According to reports, during the firing, 6 jawans were critically injured and rushed to a private hospital at the Amritsar airport road. Five of the injured were declared dead at around 11:00 am.

The jawan who opened fire has been identified as Constable Satteppa SK of Battalion 144. However, it is yet to ascertain that what was the reason or provocation that led the accused to fire at his colleagues.

The jawans of Battalion 144 were having breakfast in the mess of BSF Headquarters located in Khasa when constable Satteppa SK opened fire indiscriminately.

Later, the accused too shot himself and was rushed to the hospital along with other jawans but Satteppa died on the way.

The treatment of the other injured constables is still going on, but reportedly the condition is still critical.
