Bathinda: A man identified as Sanjay Bharao has been arrested along with his accomplices by the Bathinda police. As per reports, Bharao was a part of the Assam terror organisation called Bodo Liberation Tigers Force.
The police also recovered two fully prepared pistols, two partially prepared pistols and arms-preparation materials from the possession of the men.
One of Bharao's companions identified as Amrik Singh, who is a resident of Chotian village, is still absconding. The police are putting full effort to nab Singh as soon as possible. The duo was allegedly involved in plumbing work in the area.
It has been reported that Sanjay Bharao had been staying with Amrik Singh in the Model Town area of Bathinda for the last 25 days in a rented accommodation.
Previously, Bharao was one of the members of the Assam terror organisation called Bodo Liberation Tigers Force and was in charge of the preparation of weapons and supplies. In 2003, about 3000 members of the organisation had quit militancy and surrendered to return to the mainstream.
Bharao was arrested after the police received information about the manufacture of ammunition by an Assam terror organisation member in the region. The Bathinda police had been put on high alert due to the arrival of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh in the city on the occasion of Dussehra.
As per sources, Bharao had revealed his intention to manufacture and sell weaponry in Punjab during the preliminary investigation.
