Puri: The authorities of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri has decided to reopen the temple for devotees on Saturdays from today. This decision has come after the government of Orissa decided to ease the Covid-19 restrictions for religious institutions keeping in view the Covid-19 protocols and guidelines.
Previously, the Jagannath temple was open five days a week.
The temple will be closed on Sundays so that sanitisation work can be carried out in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The devotees who will pay a visit to the temple to offer their prayers will have to produce the final certificate of the Covid-19 vaccine (on completion of two doses of vaccine) or a Covid-19 negative certificate (RT-PCR) of testing done within 96 hours prior to the visit to the temple.
The devotees will also have to carry their photo ID cards for their entry to the temple through Singhadwar. The devotees can later exit through the Uttardwar after the completion of the darshan.
The devotees are also required to have their masks on all the time, both inside and outside the temple. The hands of the devotees should also be sanitized before entering the temple.
The devotees are allowed inside the temple for darshan from 7 am to 9 pm on all days.
