SRINAGAR: On Saturday, Kashmir's first railway station was visited by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who also made a purchase from a shop there.

In the Union Budget 2022–23, the government first mentioned the concept of "one station, one product." According to the idea, every train station would become a marketing hub where regional and homegrown goods would be presented.

The railway line connecting the Kashmir Valley to the rest of the nation will be finished this year, he said today at a press conference at the Nowgam railway station, and special "Vande Bharat" trains will start running in the Union Territory the next year.

Moreover, he stated that the Jammu-Srinagar-Udhampur-Banihal track would be finished by December 2017 or the beginning of 2018.

As a result, the Udhampur-Baramulla railway line in J&K will be finished.

"The rail line connecting Udhampur, Srinagar, and Baramulla is progressing well. Moreover, substantial progress is being made on the big tunnels and bridges being constructed at Chenab and Anji. By God's grace, the train will travel this route in December of this year or January through February of the following year, explained Mr. Vaishnaw.

According to him, a "Vande Bharat" train is being created especially for this route.

While building this particular train, all factors, including temperature and snow, were taken into consideration. Around the middle of 2024, he said, the Vande Bharat train will be available once the railway route is opened.

As a result of the Meghalaya government's plans to construct a ropeway project to the summit of Shillong Peak, Shillong is expected to become a popular tourist destination in the North East.

Conrad K. Sangma, the chief minister, stated on Friday that the project is quite far along and that the government has already mobilised finances, completed the design work, and coordinated with the landowners to begin the work. When the ropeway project is finished, guests will be able to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience with breathtaking views over the city and the surrounding countryside.

The CM added that the initiative will revitalise the entire Shillong Peak area, adding major stores that would encourage many people to start small enterprises there. As the Shillong ropeway project is finished, the government also aims to build ropeways in other regions of the state.
