Mumbai: S
Sundaram, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Republic Media Network, has been
summoned by the Raigad police in connection with the 2018 suicide case of
interior decorator Anvay Naik and his mother.
Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami with co-accused Feroz Sheikh and Nitesh Sharda on Wednesday was granted interim bail in the case by Supreme Court.
While Goswami and the other two accused were in judicial custody in Taloja Central Jail, the court had allowed a team of the Raigad police crime branch to interrogate them.
According to a crime branch officer," during the three hours of interrogation Goswami had said that making payments on behalf of the company was the job of the CFO.
"Accordingly, we have issued summons to him and he should appear before us in the coming days." The police added.
He said the inquiries are on in the case including checking the financial records of the accused. Some of the accused have stated that they paid Naik even though the work deadline had not been met.
"A few more persons will be issued summons in the coming days," the officer said adding they will also inspect more financial records before filing a charge sheet on the matter.
Alibag police officer S. Varade who had investigated the case claimed that instead of being owned money, it was Naik who owned money to Feroze Sheikh and Nitesh Sarada.
And on this basis, the police filed a closure report in the case in court last year.
The case was reopened in October and the investigation was handed over to the Raigad Crime Branch.
