Road Mishap: 7 Dead In Ambulance-Truck Collision In UP's Bareilly

The ambulance was heading towards Pilibhit from AIIMS, New Delhi, where Khurshid, a resident of Pahadpur village in Bareilly district, had taken his wife for treatment.

Bareilly: In a tragic incident, at least seven people have been killed when an ambulance in which they were returning from Delhi collided with a truck on May 31 at Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

The Bareilly police, via Twitter, informed that the incident occurred in the Fatehganj Paschim area. It unraveled when the driver of the ambulance lost control of the vehicle as a result of which he ended up ramming the ambulance into the divider. 

The impact of the strike was so hard that the ambulance came onto the other side of the road before hitting the truck. The police said that seven people died on the spot due to the accident.

According to reports, the ambulance was heading towards Pilibhit from AIIMS, New Delhi, where Khurshid, a resident of Pahadpur village in Bareilly district, had taken his wife for treatment.

The police said that the deceased who have died in the crash have been identified as Khurshid (55), his wife Sagiran (52), his sister Sameer Bano (45), sons Arif (24) and Asif (20), Hasnain (18), and ambulance driver Mehndi Hasan (32). All the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

It has been suspected that the ambulance driver may have dozed off at the wheel which resulted in the crash.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his heartful condolences at the loss of lives in the accident.

Meanwhile, as many as seven jawans of the Indian Army were killed in a road mishap that occurred in the Turtuk sector of Ladakh. According to reports, the tragic incident also led to several others incurring severe injuries.

The incident unravelled when the bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell in the Shyok river in the Turtuk sector of Ladakh on May 27.

The accident took place at 9 am around 25 km from Thoise. The bus fell to a depth of around 50-60 feet.
