Rohini Court Shootout Accused Killed By Rivals Inside Tihar Jail

NEW DELHI: Tillu Tajpuriya, the jailed gangster who is an accused in the Rohini court shootout, was killed inside Tihar Jail in a morning attack by members of a rival gang, prison officials informed on Tuesday.

According to a version issued by prison officials, the incident reportedly took place at around 6:30 a.m. Following the attack, Tillu Tajpuriya was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for treatment but he was declared dead by doctors there.

While Tillu succumbed to his injuries, another inmate Rohit, who was also involved in the attack, survived and is undergoing treatment and is said to be out of danger.

Akshat Kaushal, Additional DCP West District, Delhi Police said, “This morning, information was received from DDU Hospital regarding two undertrial prisoners who were brought to the hospital from Tihar Jail. One of them, Sunil alias Tilu was brought in an unconscious state. He was declared brought dead later. Another person, Rohit is undergoing treatment and is out of danger.”

According to police officials in the know, a prisoner named Yogesh Tunda, who was lodged in Jail No. 8 and other members of the rival gang attacked Tillu, who was lodged in Jail No. 9. An iron grill was reportedly used in the attack.

“Yogesh alias Tunda and Deepak alias Teetar attacked Tillu Tajpuriya by breaking the iron grills of the ward which separated both gangs in the same ward,” the official said, providing details.

In a shocking incident on September 24 last year, two miscreants shot and killed Jitendra Gogi during a shootout in Rohini Court No. 207.

Information gathered on the incident revealed that a day before the Rohini shootout, Umang and Jagdeep, the shooters, took weapons from a crook named Rakesh Tajpuria in Murthal, sources had said in September last year.

Sources also revealed that on the same day, Umang and Jagdeep took delivery of the dress of lawyers from a person near AIIMS. Meanwhile, Tillu was allegedly in constant touch with both of them through WhatsApp calls from jail.
